Nothing is better than crisp sheets and fluffy towels. Make sure your linen closet is neat and tidy so you can enjoy them.

Folding Towels
The traditional way to fold bath and hand towels is first in thirds, then in half and half again. If you have a monogrammed towel, this leaves the text visible on top. Beach towels can be folded similarly, but may need an additional fold to fit nicely on a shelf. Washcloths can be done however they work best for you – folded in quarters in a bin, rolled and placed in a basket, folded in half on a shelf.
Folding Sheets
We’ll tackle the easy sheets first. Flat sheets can be folded in half until they get down to a manageable size. Pillowcases should be folded in thirds, then in half.
Now for the fun part – fitted sheets. My grandmother taught me how to fold these (and make a hospital corner bed!) when I was little. Bonus points if you have a partner to help, but it is totally do-able by yourself. Here goes…
Find the corners of the top end and flip them inside out. Put your hands in the pockets and place the corners together, sheet back to sheet back. Then with one hand grab combined pocket and flip it right side out. Do the same on the other end and then a third time, to combine all the pockets into one corner.
Once you have the pockets together, you’ll have a rough rectangle. Neaten the sides to form a crisp rectangle then you can fold down as needed. Here’s a video tutorial from Garnet Hill to help, too!
Containing
We recommend keeping full sheet sets together (instead of dividing them out by piece type). For shelf storage, fold the flat sheet and pillowcase in with the fitted sheet and stack sets up on the shelf with the folded side facing out. Another way to corral a set is by putting the set inside a pillowcase, folding the pillowcase edges neatly. Large bins can house sheet sets, and a newer option is a a sheet keeper which contains it all and sits nicely on shelves with a label.
Now that you have a game plan, get folding!
